Nasdaq All-Time Highs
Looking at the Nasdaq Futures, we closed at an all-time high yesterday.
Where is that strength coming from? Let’s apply some tools I shared in this weekend’s video to spot some stocks to watch today.
Stock to Watch
Let’s look at the stock heatmap I showed in Saturday’s video.
By filtering to leaders of the day (moving above 3%), we can see that the majority of names leading the market are semiconductors.
Therefore, it is important that we focus on semiconductors today as there is a good chance they see continuation, especially ahead of NVDA earnings on Wednesday.
You can also dive into why some of these moves are happening. For example, NFLX was upgraded by Wedbush, pushing the stock higher. That is good news that can propel the stock higher and warrants it being on your watchlist.
Stocks to Avoid
On the other hand, we can look at which stocks are moving down so we can avoid them/look to short them.
You can see that JPM took a hit yesterday due to an executive saying they won’t be buying more stock at this price. This actually doesn’t concern me because he will likely buy stock at a lower price, which is exactly what he is getting by making those comments.
Insurance names took a hit yesterday after a strong week last week. Retail names aren’t performing well.
These are high level insights you can find quickly and apply to your trading to help you have a plan going into the trading day.
